Kerala Tourism to Set New Requirements for Inclusive Journey at Munnar Convention

The four-day occasion, titled the World Ladies Convention on Accountable and Gender-Inclusive Tourism, is organized by the Kerala Accountable Tourism Mission (RT Mission) Society and aligns with the United Nations World Tourism Group’s (UNWTO) ‘Gender Inclusive Tourism’ coverage. With technical help from UN Ladies-India, RT Mission has launched women-friendly initiatives in particular locations. The UN company contributes by conducting security assessments, gender audits, and organizing workshops.
“As part of experiential and sustainable tourism, we have created stay packages, arty villagesand streets, etc. Our women-friendly tourism initiative is another success story,” saidTourism Secretary Shri Ok Biju.

“RT Mission has been working on women-friendly tourist destinations. The projects aim toattract and increase women participation and representation in tourism sector,” saidTourism Director Smt Sikha Surendran. “The initiative will increase the confidence ofwomen holidaymakers and thus the tourist flow into the state,” she added.
The RT Mission Society has registered 18,000 women-friendly tourism initiatives, with 17,631 (70%) led or owned by girls entrepreneurs.
“We are working on integrating all women-led enterprises under an umbrella. They can becommunity tour leaders, tour operators, drivers and promoters of homestays andrestaurants,” RT Mission Society CEO Rupeshkumar Ok mentioned.
Kerala stands as the primary state within the nation to implement a gender audit, fostering alternatives for rural girls to interact within the tourism economic system.
