A TUI flight carrying 200 passengers skidded off the runway at Leeds Bradford Airport amid Storm Babet’s extreme circumstances, following a “catastrophic failure” in its nosewheel bearing.

The Boeing 737-8K5, arriving from Corfu final October, encountered technical hassle shortly after landing, veering off beam and coming to a halt on a grassy verge roughly 500 toes past the taxiway.

The Air Accidents Investigation Department (AAIB) report attributes the incident to a nosewheel bearing failure, which seemingly occurred through the rollout part of touchdown, inflicting important juddering and an surprising leftward drift.
